Medical Assistant Certification

To practice the field of medical assistance one need not have a medical assistant certification. The choice of getting certified is up to the candidate. But getting a certification to practice as a medical assistant is the best way of pursuing this field. Certification gives an edge to the aspirant and plays a positive role in getting a decent job in a good clinic or hospital. To get certified as a medical assistant a person has to pass a certification examination which is conducted by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).

To be eligible to obtain the Certification Examination, one must have a degree program in medical assisting from a well accredited school apart from the completion of an externship at a clinic. • Be good at all subjects that relate to medical assisting and practice like lab proceedings, basic medical terminologies in subjects like anatomy, physiology and more. It is on the basis of this knowledge that one will clear the exam set by the AAMA. A first timer can attempt mock tests and get practice papers to get familiar with the exam pattern. To write the exam the AAMA must be contacted with necessary information of correspondence.
• There is an examination fee which one needs to pay. It could cost you up to $200.
• Within a span of 45 days for the deadline of application a notice will be provided to candidates regarding their status, whom to call to schedule and examination etc.
